Vicki Davis is a very progressive teacher in my opinion. I think that a lot of schools should implement programs to help children become proficient with computers and the new technologies available through them. One of the problems with this is obviously funding to have enough computers and teachers (especially in Alabama).
I think that the curriculum that she is using will help her students excel in the future. The children being able to use computers and their applications will be a great advantage for her students. I think that this is even more important with her students, seeing that they are from a rural town.

Sir Ken Robinson
I thought that this was a very interesting video. I never thought of it that way, but he brings up a very good point in his speech. I think that education may be killing our children’s creativity. We try to keep their education based on the math’s and sciences but if that is not where that child exceeds in learning you may be holding them back from harnessing their true creativity.
One of the points that he brings up in the talk is that education is designed to produce college professors. I have thought this myself for a long time. If a child is not interested in becoming a teacher a lot of what they learn in high school will never be used again other than basic math skills. I think that this is where introducing technology and computers into the classroom greatly benefits students. A child who can proficiently use a computer is at a greater advantage than a child who was forced to remember the structure of a cell in biology class in my opinion.

Mr. Winkle Wakes
I liked Mr. Winkle wakes. It was fairly funny but it was also very thought provoking. Why in education have we not changed in so long. The rest of the world along with businesses, hospitals, and even our own homes are constantly using new technologies. Schools are still using outdated text and soon to be stone age techniques to teach our students.
If we are suppose to be teaching our students who are the future, we should be using new technology that will prepare them for the future. We should be putting new things and ideas in front of them instead of beating the same old book to death.

Did You Know 3.0
I found this video to be very informative and entertaining. I thought that the information was very interesting. I would have never thought that some of those statistics would be what they are. I also liked the way that the video was setup. It made the video a lot easier to watch that the previous version. If you watch the previous version of the video some of the questions are the same but the answers have changed dramatically over the course of a year or two.
I thought that the point that the video was trying to get across was that the world is changing at a rapid pace and that technology is changing even faster. Everyone around the world is becoming extremely reliant on technology. I also did not realize that the U.S. population was as small as it is and that our children are as far behind in learning as they are.

First Post
Hello, my name is Stephen Burrough. I am 22 years old and live in Mobile, Al. I attend USA full time in the College of Education. I am majoring in Secondary Education and intend to become a History teacher. I have about 2 years left until I get my bachelors. After I graduate I want to teach for a year or two then go back to school and get my masters in History. Along with attending USA I work at Airgas in Theodore, Al. Airgas is a compressed gas plant that fills industrial and medical gases. I have been working there for about 3 years now. Its not the best job in the world but it pays the rent and for my classes. I also work for a local catering company on the weekends to help pay for some of my hobbies. When I have spare time I like to do anything outdoors such as camping, hunting, kayaking, and playing paintball. Paintball is probably the main thing that I enjoy doing outside of school. It is relatively expensive to play so that is why I have a weekend job as well. There is really nothing too unique about me that I know of. I am a bit high strung and always doing something. I’ve also been told that I have ADHD by a lot of people but refuse to go to the doctor for anything other than broke bones. Other than that there is not a whole lot to me. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
